Mt. Pelia Innovative Solutions, LLC was established in the spring of 2010. Owner, John Cole envisioned a small, family-run engineering business that would allow him to use his skills, education and talents to impact agriculture, the environment and standards of living for people around the world. With the registration of the business, he began his quest to move into a form and type of engineering work that would allow him to spend more time with his growing family, be involved in humanitarian and mission-related projects and work, have more flexibility to pursue small-scale agriculture and allow for the pursuit and development of unique agricultural products and machines.
The first work of the infant business was to prepare a feasibility study concerning the development of a renewable energy division at a nearby, regional agricultural equipment dealership.
Later, Mt. Pelia was awarded a grant from the Tennessee Solar Institute that provided funding for John to be trained in the solar industry. He has completed courses, offered by world-renowned Solar Energy International, in solar PV design, sales and installation. He also was able to secure training in solar thermal energy systems. The solar PV training prepared John to eventually pass the Entry Level Solar Installers exam offered by the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP).
The company has worked in the development of several unique projects. The aim is to develop, design, market and sell a variety of agricultural and energy (renewable) related products that will benefit people right here at home and/or people living in developing countries.
John worked on a Kentucky dairy farm during his high school days. Later, in his college years, he had the opportunity to work on the University of Kentucky research farm with the soybean breeding project. He was active in FFA as a high school student and participated in many agricultural related events and organizations throughout college. He is a current member of the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE). John Cole has a strong desire to contribute to the future of agriculture in a positive and meaningful way.
